Salvation – Simple but Hard

Salvation is quite simple in its understanding. In a nut shell you have to understand that we are all sinners.
Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
We all need to repent of this sin that has offended the holiness of our Saviour.
Acts 3:19 – “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;”
Also, we need to call upon that Saviour for salvation.
Romans 10:13 – “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
For salvation there is no work or labor of any kind that needs to take place on our part. It is in reality realizing your desperate need, and then accepting the provided means in which to meet your need.
I Timothy 4:10 – “For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.”
That which is simple becomes extremely difficult, however, because we are sinners full of pride. We do not want an almighty God over us.
Proverbs 16:18 – “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
We are full of pride thinking we can do it on our own. At the very least we think there is something good in me that can be offered or mustered up for my salvation.
Romans 7:18 – “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.”
We are full of loathing when we realize we have to answer to an authority outside of ourselves. We balk at the fact that we are indeed not our own and able to choose to do whatever we want to do.
I Corinthians 6:20 – “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”
So salvation is simple because God has done all the hard work for us, and we must simply believe in Jesus Christ alone for our salvation.
Isaiah 53:5 – “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
Yet salvation is hard; for it puts us in a place where we must admit we are not worthy. It makes us see we have absolutely nothing to add to God and what He has already done for us upon Calvary.
Titus 3:5 – “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”
May I challenge you not to fight for your own will and pride in life. Simply yield to the Saviour of your soul and experience life as it was truly meant to be live.

John 10:10 – “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
