Is Jesus God – Part III - The Worship of Jesus
We have seen how
Jesus is proven to be God through His names and His works. Now we are going to
see how He is shown to be God through the worship He received.
The Bible clearly
tells us that we are to worship only God.
Luke 4:8 – “And
Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
We can see through
the Gospels, however, that many people worshiped Jesus, and He never stopped
them from doing so.
At His birth, wise
men came and worshiped Jesus.
Matthew 2:2 – “Saying,
Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the
east, and are come to worship him.”
His disciples
worshiped Him.
Matthew 14:33 – “Then
they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art
the Son of God.”
A man healed from
blindness by Him worshiped Him.
John 9:38 – “And
he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.”
Then we see God the
Father Himself commanding all the angels to worship Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 1:6 – “And
again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let
all the angels of God worship him.”
It is very clear
that since Scripture commands us that we are to only worship God, that Jesus
accepted worship, and that the Father commanded His Worship, He must be God.
