Dreaming Big Dreams
We all have big dreams for our lives and
things we wish to see accomplished. Often, however, our visions and dreams seem
to be crushed under life events we have no control over. We are not where we
want to be, and we are not doing what we wish we were doing. What in the world
do we do in these situations? Simply keep trusting God to work all things together
for good.
Romans 8:28 – “And
we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them
who are the called according to his purpose.”
Joseph was a boy who
was a dreamer and God gave him great visions on how his life was going to turn
out when he became a man. He was going to be a ruler that everybody looked up to.
However, his path to leadership was a rough road. He went through many years of
difficulty before the dreams of his life became a reality.
Joseph was sold into
slavery by his brethren after they decided they best not kill him. Then Joseph
was cast into prison because of the lies somebody else told about him. Then
after helping some men interpret a dream he was forgotten and forsaken for up
to two years. It was finally after all of this that his dreams of leadership
were realized as he was taken from prison and brought into the presence of
Pharaoh to interpret a dream.
Joseph’s life
teaches us that the providence of God is always working. We are never out of
His care and protection. It may seem that life has ended and our dreams are a
hopeless reality, but God is still working.
As God’s children we
must see that our dreams are not going to always be fulfilled on our own time
schedules, nor will they always be fulfilled in the way we envisioned because
God’s vision is so much better.
Often the path to
fulfilled dreams is through trials we endure. I believe that is more of the
reason we do not see our dreams fulfilled. It is not because God is unwilling
to bring them to pass, but it is because we are unwilling to go through the
trial to obtain it.
When life is hard
knuckle down and ask God to get you through the trial. The place of blessing is
just on the other side.
