Why Are My Prayers Not Answered? – Part V
In asking the
question about why our prayers are not answered we must discus the topic of
unbelief. Unbelief is a major hindrance to our prayer life. If you do not
believe in the first place that God can hear you, or that He may not be able to
even answer your prayer, your prayer was dead before it even began. This is
because God requires faith when we approach Him.
Hebrews 11:6 – “But
without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must
believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Unbelief is one of
the most dangerous sins that a Christian can fall into. The reason for this is
because unbelief will destroy, not only your prayer life, but your whole
Christian life. You will be a weak and spiritually dead Christian if you are
filled with unbelief in what God has said and proclaimed.
God does not listen
to prayers that have the attitude of, “God, if you are there…” or “God, if you
can do anything about this…” He is a rewarder of only those who believe that He
is there, that He does hear, and that He is able and willing to answer. Faith
is a must in our relationship with God.
James 1:6-7 –
“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a
wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think
that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.”
You will receive
nothing from the Lord if you do not believe in Him and what He can do. You may
not know exactly how God is going to answer, but you can have complete
confidence and faith that He will answer, and that He will answer in the best
way possible.
When you pray to the
Lord you cannot waver in your belief because God will not honor anything but
faith. The reason for that is because faith is an attitude of trust, not in
ourselves, but in the Almighty God with whom all things are possible.
