Lessons From Black Friday

Black Friday!  Two words that send chills down my spine.  I can't stand to shop on the best of days, but to campout in front of a store for hours and to race in with an angry mob just so "I might" get want I want, that's definitely not for me.  But Black Friday does teach me something.  The best deals go to those that want them the most.  If you want the best deals, you have to campout in front of the store for awhile.  If you want the best deals, you have to walk quickly or in some cases run to where the item is located.  Those who go about Black Friday half-heartedly don't get the best deals.  The same could be said for Christians who read their Bibles half-heartedly.  Those who read it quickly and then toss it aside or those who read it without thought are not going to be the ones who gain great insights from God.  Those who gain the most from the Scriptures are those who understand its immense value.  When speaking of God's wisdom, Solomon wrote, "If thou searchest for her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God."  It doesn't matter if we get into the spirit of Black Friday but we all ought to recognize the immense treasures located in God's Word and seek them with all of our heart.
